PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

Move up and experience real adventure with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. As you step beyond the PADI Open Water Diver level, you make five dives and have the opportunity to try some of diving’s most rewarding and useful specialty activities, such as deep diving, digital underwater photography, wreck diving and much more. These skills make diving much more than underwater sightseeing.

Under MDC Sports’ supervision, you will complete two core dives (Navigation and Deep) & any three elective dives (PPBuoyancy, Night, Boat, Wreck, Search & Recovery, DPV, Drysuit, Digital Photo, Drift, Naturalist, AWARE-Fish ID, Enriched Air, or Multilevel diving). Plus, each Adventure Dive can count towards your first dive of the matching PADI Specialty Diver course.

Prerequisites:    PADI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent rating. Must be 15 years old. (12 for Jr. Advanced Open Water Diver) Parental consent required for students under age 18.

Option 1: Book & DVD Study   

Includes PADI Adventures in Diving manual, student data carrier slate, surface marker buoy, whistle, instruction, & certification fee.

Option 2: PADI eLearning                  


Purchase the eLearning Adventure Diver course directly from PADI for $120 and complete the knowledge development portion online at your own pace – anytime, anywhere. Once you’ve completed your eLearning, MDC Sports will complete any other knowledge development and dives required for this course.

MDC Sports instruction includes student data carrier slate, surface marker buoy, whistle, lake instruction, & certification.

Adventure Diver Upgrade:

Includes instruction, two dives, photo, and certification fee.
   
Advanced and Adventure Diver course prices do not include rental equipment, air fills, county park fees, lodging, travel, or boat fees.

What to Do:       

1. Sign up and pay for class at MDC Sports.

    -Pick up PADI Adventures in Diving study materials and rental DVD.
    -Fill out PADI Medical Statement, Liability Release, and Statement of Understanding.
    -Have your picture taken for your certification card.
    -Pick up Wazee Lake informational flyer and map.
    -Try on & reserve any rental scuba equipment needed. (Allow 1 hour)

2. Do your homewor

 

    • -Read each module in PADI Adventures in Diving Manual.
      -Watch each module of the PADI Adventures in Diving course DVD.
      -Fill out Scuba Tune-Up worksheet and knowledge reviews for your planned dives.

3. Get Physician’s approval before class if any items apply to you.

-Physician must correctly complete, sign, and date PADI Medical Statement on back.

4. Friday before weekend dives:

-Get your basic scuba gear including underwater compass from list below.

-Depending on your Adventure Dives, you may try out U/W photography equipment, DPVs (underwater scooters), a dive light, a dry suit, lift bags, a dive flag/float, or other specialty gear. You may need to purchase or rent these items.
-Bring completed Knowledge Reviews,  rental DVD & logbook.

Schedule:    Meet Monday at MDC Sports from 6:00pm to 10:00pm to complete paperwork, look at knowledge reviews and discuss weekend logistics.  Five dives will be done.
